Good evening parents, starting January 19, 2021, your child will be taking their iReady reading assessment in their language arts classes via Zoom. Please remind your child to be on time, find a quiet place to work, and try their best on the assessment. We also ask the students not to ask for help on the assessment so we can get an accurate level at which they are reading and can better support them in the classroom.

Good afternoon Spartan families. This is a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL this Monday 1/18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Distance learning will resume on Tuesday 1/19 at 8:55am. Next week, Tuesday 1/19 through Friday 1/22 we will have another supply pick-up for students between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm. This will take place in front of the main office on Cedar Street. All students will be required to get out of their car with a mask, to collect their supplies. Please be sure to have your child check with ALL of their teachers to determine which classes they will be picking up supplies for. We will also have a box available for students to drop off library books, classroom novels and any other school related items they may be no longer using. Have a wonderful three day weekend!

Good afternoon Spartan families. We made it through the first semester of the 20-21 school year! We want to thank all of our families and staff for their hard work and dedication in making sure all of our students are getting the best education possible despite these unprecedented times. It truly does take a village. Here are a couple important reminders as we wrap up the 1st semester: December 21st through January 1st is our winter break. Please take time to rest and rejuvenate so we can start the 2nd semester strong. We will see all of our students back in our distance learning classrooms on January 4th. Grades will not be mailed home until after winter break. Please be sure to check Infinite Campus for final end of semester grades. When we return from our winter break, our Wednesdays will look a little bit different for our students. All students will be checking in via Zoom with their 1st period teachers from 8:55am-9:25am. Attendance will be taken during that period. We will be sharing more information with the students as it gets closer. Stay healthy and safe and enjoy your much deserved break. Go Spartans!

Good afternoon CMS families. We would like to wish all of our families a very restful and safe Thanksgiving break. There will be no school for the week of 11/23. All distance learning classes will resume on 11/30. As we move into the holiday season, it's important to reflect and take time for ourselves. This year has been especially difficult for all of us, and we would like each of you to know how thankful we are for your support throughout this first semester. We are looking forward to the day when we have our students back on campus for in person learning. For our parents, it's important to remember you MUST take care of yourself so you can take care of your kids. Please take a few minutes to read through this short article for some tips to help you through this Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you! https://www.complextrauma.ca/covid-19-self-care-for-parents-caregivers-part-3/

Good Evening Cedar Parents: starting tomorrow, our students will be taking their iReady math assessment in their math class. Please remind your children to be on time, find a quiet place to work and to try their best on the assessment. Since it is a Diagnostic adaptive test that measures their math grade level, it will be normal for students to see difficult questions. Students should not receive any type of help as this would make the results inaccurate. Thank you so much. Sincerely, CMS staff.

Welcome to the new school year. School begins tomorrow, Thursday August 6th. We need all students to join the Google Classrooms for each of their teachers by 8:00am tomorrow morning so they are prepared to begin class at 8:55am. Google classroom codes were handed out during open house and if you haven’t already joined, teachers have sent email invitations to students to join their Google classrooms in which the code would not be required. It is imperative that all students join these classrooms, as all Zoom and Google Meets links will be posted in the Google classrooms for the live interaction sessions with teachers. It is an expectation that all students log in to their google classroom daily and attend the Zoom and Google Meets sessions that are scheduled for that particular day. For example, tomorrow, students will attend periods 1, 2, 3 and 4 and on Friday students will attend periods 5,6 and 7. Attendance will be taken daily and grades will be issued. Students should be dressed for class and have their videos on during the live interaction sessions to better assist the teachers in making sure the students are engaged in the lesson. The Cedar Middle School distance learning plan is posted on the CMS website at cedarmiddle.org. We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we balance classes over the next couple weeks. Our goal is always to provide as little disruption as possible, however it is possible that one or more of your classes will change as we balance the master schedule. Good evening Spartans and welcome to the 20-21 school year.! We are so excited to get this year started with all of you. This is a reminder that the first day of school (distance learning) will be Thursday, August 6th. All students will be required to meet with their teachers for live interaction daily. Students will meet for periods 1, 2, 3 and 4 on Mondays and Thursdays and periods 5,6 and 7 on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be reserved for teacher planning time and small group remote instruction for student intervention (teachers will let students know if they will be meeting with them on Wednesdays during distance learning). For those students who were unable to make the open house last week to pick up their schedule and textbooks, please contact the school at 760 2446093 to arrange a pickup time for these necessary materials. The best way to stay connected to the school during distance learning is through our Facebook and Instagram social media accounts and our web page. Please be sure to check those often for updates and information. We are looking forward to an AWESOME 20-21 school year. Go Spartans!

Good afternoon CMS families. We wanted to update you on the delivery of our yearbooks. Due to Covid-19, delivery of our yearbooks from Jostens has been delayed. While we understand this is a bit frustrating, it's important to remember that safety of all, including the Jostens employees is of utmost importance. We are hoping to have the delivery of each yearbook directly to the homes of students who purchased them. We will continue to work with Jostens to keep you informed as to when you can expect delivery of the yearbook. Thank you!

Good Evening Spartan Families, As we prepare for this new journey of distance learning, we would like to remind our students to monitor their HUSD student email, CMS Instagram, CMS Facebook and/or the CMS Website for information pertaining to our distance learning program. Reminder that the official first day of distance learning will be April 6th. We have had several requests for students wanting to retrieve items from their PE lockers. While we understand students wanting their personal items from their lockers, we are concerned for the health and safety of our students and staff at this time. We will be working to develop a procedure that will be safe for all to pick up their items from the locker room, and communicate that to our students and parents soon. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We wish all of our families a fantastic evening and are looking forward to seeing our students in our "virtual" classrooms on Monday!

Just a reminder, we still have several 7th grade students who have not turned in their registration packets for the 20-21 school year. Please remind students to complete this process as soon as possible. If they do not complete the process their gmail accounts will eventually be deactivated and we would definitely like to avoid that. Hesperia Unified School District is pleased to announce that we will be using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools as part of our campus safety programs for students and faculty. All visitors, volunteers, and visiting staff will be asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a Driver’s License, state ID, etc. The Raptor system only checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded. The system is not connected to any other database such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, and information is not shared with any outside agency. This implementation will help increase the efficiency in our offices, allowing District-approved volunteers to spend their valuable time in classrooms instead of in the front office. Thank you, in advance, for your support in enhancing safety in our schools. #IMPACTtheFutureHUSD

Good evening Spartan families. Today, all students received their ID cards and a lanyard. It is a school-wide expectation that all students and staff wear their lanyards with their ID cards around their neck everyday. We are asking the students to get into a habit of putting their ID cards in their backpacks at the end of the day so they come prepared the following day with all of their school supplies, including their lanyard and ID card. Should a student lose their ID card they will need to purchase a new one for $5.00 and a new lanyard will cost $1.00. We appreciate your support in this matter. Go Spartans!

Welcome CMS Spartan families! Our first day of school is tomorrow, Monday August 13th. School will begin at 8:30am and will end at 3:18. All students should come prepared with their school supplies including Chromebooks. Textbooks that were issued during open house are home sets and should stay at home. Our parent drop off / pick up is located at the back of the school and can be accessed through the main parking lot through the far west entrance. Please follow the cones. For student safety we are asking parents to use the parent pick up / drop off area. We are looking forward to an AWESOME first day of school! Go Spartans!
